TNX is excited to offer groups and individuals single-day Packrafting lower Eagle Riveradventures in the "backyard" of the Anchorage-area.  These trips are a perfect way to get a glimpse of what True North Expeditions is all about.

Lower Eagle River

This trip is not only an incredible introduction to the whole concept of packrafting, but it provides a wonderful Alaskan wilderness experience just on the outskirts of Anchorage.  A short, 45 minute hike over gently rolling terrain along Eagle River and an hour on the meandering river with amazing vistas of the Chugach Mountains and great wildlfe viewing opportunities make this a great multi-sport combo day for all!

 ***YOUTH, MEN'S OR WOMEN'S GROUPS...THIS IS THE PERFECT SHORT TRIP FOR YOU!***

IT"S GO TIME! 

 

What is provided?:  Skilled and qualified guides, packrafts and associated gear (PFD, paddle, dry bags), personallized instruction on packrafting and river safety and outdoor education along the route.  Transportation to and from Anchorage is available!  Extra cost applies.

What do you bring?:  Shoes or sturdy sandles that you don't mind getting a little wet, and a rain shell. 

Time Requirement:  Groups meeting us at the put-in at Eagle River allow 4 hours; groups desiring TNX transportations allow 6 hours.

Skill Level:  This is a Level 1 trip that is extremely unique and awesome for adults and appropriate for youth, 10 and older.  It includes a 45 minute hike in over flat to gently rolling terrain and an hour paddle out in slow, meadering Class I whitewater, which is suitable for beginners. (Ask about our short-hike (15 minute) /3-4 hour paddling option!) 

Cost: For Alaskans: $35/person (we can accomidate up to groups of 12).  Discounted rate for groups more than eight (8) in size.  $79 for non-Alaskans.  Transportation from Downtown Anchorage can be provided for additional fee.

Packrafting Lower Eagle River

Upper Eagle River

Hike in and paddle out!  From the Eagle River Nature Center, we will hike in up to 10 miles up to the head of the Upper Eagle River Valley near the Eagle Glacier, pull out our packrafts, put on our PFDs with paddle-in-hand, then enjoy the river and the valley from a whole new perspective.  How could experiencing God's glorious creation be so much fun and rewarding!

Cost: $99/person; overnight: $225/person. 

What is provided?:  Transportation to and from Anchorage, an incredible lunch and afternoon snacks along the trail, skilled and qualified guides, packrafts and associated gear (PFD, paddle, dry bags) and outdoor education along the route that ties into the spritual messages for the day.  Overnight: In addtion to the above, TNX will provide tents, backpacks, sleeping bags, sleeping pads and all meals.  Minimum group size: 2; Max: 6.

Skill Level:  This is a Level 3 trip requiring a longer hike in (upwards of 10 miles) to the upper valley and being signed off by TNX guides on paddling and river-reading skills.  For those who desire more of an adventure, this is the trip for you.  Hiking in to the upper valley and then paddling out is INCREDIBLE!  It will blow your mind and leave you in AWE over God's creation and the change in perspective as you paddle down the river!

Portage Creek

Enjoy the incredible drive along one of the Alaska's most beautiful highways, the Seward Highway, as we head for Portage Creek south of Girdwood.  Here we will learn packrafting skills, then embark on a 4 to 6 hour journey down the Portage Valley.  Portage Creek abounds in wildlife, including many species of ducks, bald eagle, moose, beaver, and song birds.  On top of the living creatures that make the valley home, the views of the coastal Chugach Mountains are outrageous!  This area marks a transition zone between our coastal maritime and interior sub-arctic climates, making this a perfect place to learn about riverine ecosystems.  Come and enjoy a day of fun, learning, and growing with your friends or office mates!  This is a unique experience you will not forget!  We can accomidate up to groups of 12. 

Cost: $139/person; $99/person (for Alaskans only)

What is provided?: Transportation to and from Anchorage, an incredible river meal and snacks, skilled and qualified guides, packrafts and associated gear (PFD, paddle, dry bags) and outdoor education along the route that ties into the spritual messages for the day. This is an eight (8) hour+ day.

Skill Level:  This is a Level 1 trip that is extremely unique and awesome for adults and appropriate for youth, 15 and older.  It includes no hiking, just simply four hours paddle  through the Portage Valley on Class I whitewater, which is suitable for beginners.

TNX is fully permited to carryout wilderness guided adventures on National Forest System Lands in Alaska.

Knik River Packrafting

Enjoy the incredible scenary with Pioneer Peak towering 6000 feet above you and the wide, placid waters of the lower Knik River.  We will put-in at the Old Glenn Highway bridge and take-out at the New Glenn Highway bridge, an outstanding eight mile/four hour journey...perfect with friends and family.

Cost: $30/person (for Alaskans from the Palmer/Wasilla area - discounts for groups of 8 or more), $99 (from Anchorage)

What is provided?: Transportation to and from Anchorage, skilled and qualified guides, packrafts and associated gear (PFD, paddle, dry bags) and outdoor education along the route that ties into the spritual messages for the day. For Mat-Su Valley groups, transportation from a central location can be arranged.  From Anchorage, this is a 6-7 hour day.

Skill Level:  This is a Level 1 trip that is outstanding for adults and appropriate for youth, 12 and older, who desire to learn the skills of packrafting and desire a leasure float down a extremely scenic stretch of water.  It includes no hiking, just simply four hours of paddling on the glacial Knik River which is considered Class I whitewater, suitable for beginners.

  Whitewater Rafting

Matanuska River

This is an exciting option for groups who seek to spend a full day enjoying God's glory of Class II-III whitewater coupled with incredible views in every direction of the rugged Talkeetna and Chugach mountains.  Enjoy 4 to 6 hours of paddle time down this incredible river, with a lunch stop along the way!  Groups also have the option of making this a short overnight trip.  See our multi-day options for details.

Costs:  $175/person; $109/person (for Alaskans only; Mat-Su groups, contact TNX for quote)

Group size:  We can accomidate group upwards of 20. 

What is provided?:  Transportation to and from Anchorage, morning snacks, an incredible river lunch, skilled and qualified guides, rafts and associated equipement, including PFDs, and outdoor education along the river that ties into the spritual messages for the day. Overnight: In addtion to the above, TNX will provide tents, sleeping bags, and all meals.  Day trip participants from the Anchorage-area, this is a 12 hour day.

 Eagle River - Campground Rapids

Description:  This stretch of Eagle River is a ton of fun and is perfect for groups who desire the camaraderie of working together and leaning on each other to pursue a common goal.  We run "paddle boats" down this section of river, which means each participant has a paddle and is playing a part in getting the entire group down.  This trip is suitable for senior high age groups and all adults.  Junior high groups will be placed in oar boats, so get ready for some splash!!

Participant Capacity: 12Tackling Campground Rapids

Cost:  $35 per participant

Time Requirement:  4 hours including transportation time to and from Anchorage.

What's Included?:  Transportation to and from your business, qualified and experienced whitewater rafting guides, and associated personal equipment (personal floatation device (PFD), paddle, and dry bag for personal gear), programming for team initiatives, and team excursion photographs.  Add in an outstanding river lunch for an additional $12 per participant.
